Once upon a time...This Toronto independent quartet composed of Tara Rice (voice, guitar, words & programming), Nathan Kaye (acoustic & electronic drums), Peter Broadley (bass) and Sködt D. McNalty (guitar, voice, words & programming) formed at the onset of 2003 and entered into the boundless flow of music in pursuit of meaning and balance. Their sonorous sound of cinematic rock is comparatively unique, drawing upon a vast array of timeless influences with a sensitivity and sensibility towards, theme, concept & melody in all of her (in)vocations. The collective members of 5th PROJEKT share an unbridled affection for music as an art form which has resulted in a recent invitation to showcase at the 2006 Canadian Music Week Festival, a nomination for Best Alternative Artist at the Toronto Independent Music Awards, a Showcase feature in Canadian Musician Magazine, a summons to the 2005 ROCKRGRL Conference in Seattle, Washington, an invitation to the 2005 NXNE music festival, and a nod from Montreal's CJLO FM ranking DEMOn001 in their Top 10 EPs of 2004. "Skepticosm" of DEMOn001 found it's way onto The Anti-Hit List, a very influential 'Alternate Top Ten' compiled by music writer John Sakamoto. 5th PROJEKT was also featured on CBC Radio DJ Sook-Yin Lee's Definitely Not the Opera as Independent Artist of the Week. Together, 5th PROJEKT effectively unite the metaphysical emphasis of imagination, the emotions and the mind with literature, visual arts and that which is the most fundamentally important celebration of our current culture: music. |
